Your pool filter is the heart of your pool’s circulation system. Without regular cleaning, it can become clogged, leading to cloudy water, algae growth, and increased energy costs.

Depending on your pool, your filter needs to be cleaned every 3 to 6 months. This is in addition to backwashing which should be done for DE and Sand Filters on a regular basis. 

Servicing a Pool Filter takes anywhere from 1 to 2 hours, depending on type.

• DE Filters should be backwashed and Recharged as their pressure raises 8 to 10 PSI from their full cleaning/rebuild.
• Sand Filters should be backwashed regularly or at least when the PSI has increased 8-10 above install pressure. Sand Filter Media should last 5 years plus.
• Cartridge Filters - Cannot be backwashed and should be taken apart and manually washed when they are 10 PSI above New. Cartridge elements should be replaced when damaged, or when flow rates are reduced even when filter has been cleaned. This depends on pool use.

Pool water should be CLEAR. You should be able to clearly see the pool drain from the waters edge. Cloudy water could indicate potential harmful conditions. Possible causes of cloudy water;

• Temporary chemical reactions after pool servicing
• Lack of sufficient Chlorine levels
• Lack of sufficient pool pump time
• Clogged, dirty or defective filter
• Bio Organism growth
